Kids Rock

 

WHAT?      Immaculate Conception Catholic School is participating in the Kids Rock portion of the Annual Rock N' Roll Marathon which will take place at Tempe Town Lake AZ. Kids Rock is a full Marathon that is run over a six week period where teachers and coaches will track student miles up to 25.2 miles. Participants come together to complete their final mile on race day at Tempe Town Lake in January annually and become official Kids Rock finishers who have run a total of 26.2 miles – a marathon!

WHY?         Kids Rock encourages children to embrace exercise and have fun! The goal of the program is to empower kids to choose a healthy lifestyle.

WHEN?      The Kids Rock portion of the Rock n Roll Marathon is usually held in January. Students begin running in November, and usual run after school for 8 weeks (excluding school breaks) to complete their 25.2 miles. Ms. Mary will also log miles run during P.E. classes to count towards this total. Students should plan to run at least 2 times per week for at least 1.5 to 2 miles per day.

WHO?        Kids Rock is open to kids in grades K-7. Parents must commit to taking their runner to Tempe on the day of the event to complete their last mile.
